Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about accounts, transfers, encryption and using VP Sendit safely.
What is VP Sendit?
VP Sendit is a private, invite-only service for temporarily moving files between your own devices and sending files to people you trust. It is designed for convenient transfers, not as a permanent backup service.
How do I create an account?
You need a valid one-time invite code. If you do not have one, select Request one on the registration form and enter your email address. An administrator reviews the request before a code is sent automatically.
What is the maximum file size?
Each file may be up to 50 MiB. An account can currently store up to 500 files and 2 GiB of ciphertext in total. Limits may change as the service develops.
Does VP Sendit reduce photo or file quality?
No. Files are encrypted and transferred as bytes without compression, resizing or conversion. A downloaded original therefore keeps the same format, size and quality. Photo previews do not change the stored original.
How long are files kept?
Inbox transfers expire after 24 hours. Other uploaded files are also temporary and subject to the configured storage-retention rules. Always keep your own copy of anything important.
What does end-to-end encryption protect?
File content, filenames and protected file details are encrypted in your browser before upload. Cloudflare stores ciphertext, and VP Sendit normally cannot read it. The service still processes limited routing information such as account identifiers, times and ciphertext sizes.
Can VP Sendit recover my encrypted files?
Not without access to an unlocked trusted device or your recovery key. Keep the recovery key somewhere safe and separate. If you lose your password, recovery key and every trusted device, existing encrypted files may be permanently inaccessible.
What happens if I forget my password?
If your account has a verified recovery email, use Forgot password? on the sign-in form. The reset link is short-lived and signs out existing sessions. You still need your recovery key to regain access to previously encrypted files when no trusted device remains.
Can I use Google Authenticator?
Yes. VP Sendit supports standard TOTP authenticator apps, including Google Authenticator and compatible alternatives. Once MFA is enabled, a current six-digit code is required after your password on new password sign-ins.
How does QR sign-in work?
Open the QR sign-in option on the new computer and scan it from a phone that is already signed in. Confirm the device and matching code on your phone. The computer receives a new independent session; your phone's session cookie is never copied.
How do I send a file to someone?
Open the Inbox tab, enter the recipient's exact username or verified email address, add a short description and choose a file. After a successful transfer, that account appears in your recent recipients so it is easier to select next time.
What is stored in recent recipients?
VP Sendit stores only the recipient account, last-send time, transfer count and your favorite choice. It does not add filenames, descriptions or file contents to this list. You can remove an entry at any time.
How do I sign out another device?
Open Account settings and review Signed-in devices. You can revoke one other session or sign out all other devices. The revoked device is rejected on its next request.
Does VP Sendit work on phones, Windows, macOS and Linux?
Yes, in a current browser with the required Web Crypto features. Camera-based QR scanning depends on browser permission and HTTPS. If camera scanning is unavailable, you can select an existing QR image instead.
Who can help with an account problem?
Contact the VP Sendit administrator who invited you, using the same trusted communication channel. Never send your password, authenticator code, recovery key or API key by email or chat.
